Description
For your consideration: a W. Boyle & J. McGlinn amber whiskey bottle from Philadelphia, PA. It was blown in amber glass batch into a two-part private mold and finished with a tooled double-taper lip in the 1880's. This was recovered from a Philadelphia privy excavation in the last year. It is in very good dug condition with no damage at all. Boyle & McGlinn were located at 145 & 147 So. Second St.. This bottle likely contained either their Clover Club or Rye Whiskey. It shows glass grain across the surface - a result of having spent over 100 years in the ground. Wonderful polychromatic patina. Some small bubbles scattered throughout the glass. It displays beautifully. Lovely honey amber coloration. It measures: 9 5/16" x 4 1/16".
