    Description

    A hard-to-find c. 1939 Superman daily comic strip celluloid pinback promo button. The button reads "Read Superman Daily in the Democrat", and has an image of Superman breaking a chain, with "Strength, Courage, Justice" inlaid into chain links above his head. According to research, this button was probably distributed in 1939, the year the Superman daily comic strip started running in newspapers.
    The button measures 1 3/8" in diameter.
    There is a small area of discoloration on the right hand side of the front of the button, as shown in photos, and some light surface scratching (as expected).  The back of the button is heavily rusted.
