    ULTRA RARE HORROR POSTER!
Here's without question one of the rarest HORROR MOVIE TITLES to find ORIGINAL paper on - FACES OF DEATH.
This poster is a genuine original that would fill that "special" void in the most sophisticated and elite of horror collections.
    FACES OF DEATH
    When talking about "cult films,"
    Faces of Death
personifies the genera better than just about any other movie title. After all, the film's "cult" status
    is
its true claim to fame. It's certainly not the quality of the filmmaking - if you can even call it that. Nevertheless, the material captivated a loyal following that spread gibber and gabber about it ad infinitum for more than two decades. Any filmgoer who lived through the '70s and '80's will likely remember at least hearing about this movie, even if they've never seen it, which makes the title a lot bigger than the movie itself. It's a real standout achievement. This movie's pre-Internet "viral" success proved to be a prime example of what a phenomenon word-of-mouth advertising can truly be. It's also why posters on this title are exceedingly scarce; they didn't issue many posters. I was around at the time of the original release and I saw NO posters or print advertising, radio or TV promoting this film, nothing. I started looking for posters on this title way back in 1979, when Jimmy Carter was still President. I couldn't find
    any
    .
Then, in 1980, I got this "Thai" poster from Jerry Ohlinger himself at his shop in New York City. At the time, I was told the poster was from Thailand, but someone I showed it to about 10 years later said that they thought it might be from Taiwan. I guess that's possible. I can't read the language on the litho, and so I'm not certain of which country it was originally from. Personally, it never mattered much to me; I liked the poster for its artwork, which is a spot-on (or should I say "dead-on") representation of what I was hoping to see on a poster advertising of
    Faces of Death
. Much of the same sensationalism that was conveyed in all of that early chatter, which ultimately made the movie a legend, is depicted on this poster. From the gushing red-blood decapitation of the human head to the spooning out of the monkey brain, you've got strong imagery that quenches even the darkest thirsts for all things macabre. Also, the high-quality artwork is a notable element of value on this poster; checkout all of the detail in the close-up photos. It's quite impressive. The artistry shown in the rendering of the airliner is a particular sign of the fine quality within this work. Even the title treatment, with its convincing look of "aged" distress, is an effective piece poster art. It's a well-done poster! It's the only "well-done" poster that I've seen on this title title, and, it's the
    only
original example I've ever seen of it.
Needless to say, I like the poster! It's a strong piece. The artist's signature is visible on the litho. The name is printed to the right of the terrorists, but isn't fully clear for me to spell. It looks like it might say "Tom Jung" (of Star Wars poster art fame), but I doubt it's him. If anyone knows for certain who actually did do this
    Faces of Death
    artwork - please write me.
    SIZE AND CONDITION
    The poster is in
EXTRA FINE ++ to NearMINT ORIGINAL CONDITION!
It's had no restoration. I've had it in a flat-pack between acid-free paper for at least three decades now. I can't imagine there's a nicer one out there. Good luck in even finding another one. The poster measures approximately
    30 and 7 eighths inches by 21 & 3 eighths inches.
The poster was given to me rolled before I put it in the flat pack. However, I can see that it was originally folded at one time before I got it. It looks like the poster was horizontally tri-folded as a group. I'd guess when it was originally distributed. There's no hard fold line, just sort of a crimp mark. The DIRECT High-Res scans that I made (of the ACTUAL poster you'll be getting) flattened out the poster so you cannot see any of the folds at all, and so if this poster were linen-mounted it would present as
    mint
    . Right now it's
EXTRA FINE ++ to NearMINT ORIGINAL UNRESTORED CONDITION!
The Poster is still in the flat-pack, but for economic and safety reasons I'll ship ROLLED in a PVC Pipe-tube!
Buying this rare poster is ECONOMY PROOF!
Why waste your money in the stock market? It can crash regardless of any decision you make and can even crash regardless of any decision made by the company related to the stock - Leaving you with a near worthless piece of paper that won't inspire anyone! With the purchase of an historic rarity such as this rare poster, it doesn't matter what happens to the economy, you'll still have the poster, which can be displayed and enjoyed. The magnificence of art and historic documents have an inherent value that relates to civilization and society. Unless civilization itself crashes, this piece will hold its value, and, if civilization itself crashes - Who'll care about money? This movie poster rarity is definitely
    ECONOMY PROOF!
