TROUBLESHOOTING:
My hearing amplifier stopped working, what should I do?:
Often times a hearing amplifier will seem to suddenly stop working when the ear dome or sound tube becomes obstructed with wax. Simply cleaning the ear dome and sound tube can restore your amplifier back to maximum amplification. (Directions and cleaning kit included in box)
There is not enough amplification:
The Otofonix Elite comes preassembled with a medium Open Ear Dome because it offers a more natural and comfortable fit. If you need a little more amplification we recommend using the Closed Dome for increased amplification, reduced feedback (whistling) and improved background noise reduction.
Amplifier keeps squealing (feedback):
Feedback or whistling occurs when sound from the amplifier escapes your ear canal and is redirected to the microphone and gets re-amplified. This can happen if the ear dome is not fit snugly in your ear canal. First ensure the Ear Dome fits snugly in your ear canal, if it is too loose, replace with a larger ear dome (included). Next ensure the sound tube is securely attached to the amplifier shell (red line on sound tube points to red dot on amplifier in 12 o'clock position). Finally, if you have the volume turned up above level 7 we recommend using closed dome as it prevents sound from escaping your ear canal and becoming re-amplified by the microphone.
TIPS:
Using the Amplifier in Restaurants
- Even the most expensive prescription hearing devices cannot completely eliminate background noise but using a closed (or magic) ear dome can help to minimize the amount of background noise that is able to get inside your ear canal. Minimizing the amount of background noise will allow you to focus better on the conversation in front of you.
