Director Vinod Kapri’s Pyre to premiere at Europe’s Tallinn Black Nights Festival

Director Vinod Kapri’s film Pyre has been selected for its world premiere at the 28th edition of the prestigious Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, in the Official Competition section.
Set in the remote mountains of Uttarakhand, Pyre features 80-year-old non-professional actors, referred to as Aama and Bubu (Grandma and Grandpa), capturing the essence of life in the Himalayan region.
This marks the only Indian film in the competition category at the festival this year. The film boasts an award-winning international crew, with Canadian composer Mychael Danna, known for Life of Pi and Moneyball, providing the score, and German editor Patricia Rommel, known for The Lives of Others, editing the film in Berlin. Renowned Indian lyricist Gulzar has also contributed a song to the project.
Pyre is set to embark on its festival run before a theatrical release planned for next year. The first poster and stills from the film have been unveiled.
